Members of the Iranian Parliament said vowed to defend their armed forces and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from any action taken against them by the United States, while speaking in the Iranian Parliament in Tehran on Sunday.

The comments came in response to reports of an expected US declaration which would label Iran's IRGC as a terror organisation.

"The issue of the US that said they will recognize Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as terrorist... our nation stands against it with all its power and we will defend our armed forces and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps with all our power," Iran's First Deputy Parliament Speaker Masoud Pezeshkian said.

According to reports, the designation would mark the first time the United States formally names another country's military a terrorist organisation.
