Incumbent Indonesian President Joko Widodo cast his ballot in the Indonesian general election, on Wednesday in Jakarta, a short distance from the Merkeda Palace that serves as one of Indonesia's offical presidential residences.

For the first time in the country's history, the president, the vice president, and members of the Indonesian parliament, the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), are up for election on the same date.

Widodo's opponent in the election is former army general Prabowo Subianto, who was defeated by Widodo in the 2014 vote.

According to polling Subianto is likely to lose for a second time once Indonesia's roughly 193 million eligible voters have had their say.
