The Election Commission of India has suspended campaigning for the last phase of the staggered elections in the state of West Bengal after an outbreak of violence.

It happened on Tuesday in the state capital, Kolkata, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ruling party was rallying voters.

The eastern state of India is ruled by the rival Trinamool Congress party.
