The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif acknowledged that Tehran authorities withheld information from Iranians after one of its own missiles downed a passenger plane killing everyone on board. Zarif made the remarks while speaking at a foreign policy conference in New Delhi on Wednesday.

"We believe that it is the fact that it wasn't disclosed early enough", said Zarif, adding that the Iranians were protesting because they "were lied to."

Zarif, however, praised IRGC forces for being "brave enough to claim responsibility" for the missile strike that downed the plane.

On January 11, Iran's military admitted "unintentionally" shooting down Ukrainian International Airlines (UIA) flight PS752, killing all 176 people on board.
