After three tumultuous years in office, British Prime Minister Theresa May has announced her resignation.
In an emotional statement, she said she deeply regretted her failure to lead the United Kingdom out of the European Union.
Calls for her to step down had been growing, with the Brexit process in disarray.
In a fortnight, May will stand down as leader of the Conservative Party, while the opposition calls for a general election.
