How the CPPCC can change Chinese people's lives

Every year, ministers and heads of government organs receive proposals from CPPCC members, discuss the issues and then provide feedback over a year. During last year's session, over 4,000 proposals were registered – 99 percent received a response, and 84 percent were approved. Ninety percent of the proposals are handled by the State Council and its subordinate departments. For example, the Environmental Protection Ministry oversaw 314 proposals in 2017 and achieved a 100 percent satisfaction rate from CPPCC members. These proposals contain fundamental issues including the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan, poverty alleviation, and the rule of law. They also covered daily issues like the management of shared bikes in big cities, cyber crime and air pollution.
