Google has temporarily shut down its office in Hong Kong due to fears over the coronavirus outbreak, footage filmed on Thursday shows.
According to media reports, the decision will also affect all Google offices in mainland China, including Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai as well as five offices in Taiwan.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people could be seen lined up in front of pharmacies waiting for their turn to buy face masks.
One of the local residents said "you can see everyone is lining up to buy the masks and it gives everyone anxiety and makes them anxious about that, do you think the government can supply the security and protection and make the price a fair [one] because everyone is deciding the price [of the mask]."
On Wednesday, Hong Kong's health department announced that the total number of coronavirus infection cases confirmed in Hong Kong has risen to 10.
The virus killed at least 170 people so far and infected more than 7,700 in China alone, with more than a hundred cases reported worldwide across twenty countries, including Germany, France, Finland Canada and the US.
