Hong Kong metro officials say construction of new routes has been postponed due to the damage caused by violent protests. They also say it will cost up to 500 million HK dollars to repair the damaged sections. Construction work is already delayed in the south-to-north route of Shatin to Central Link, which is the subway system's newest section. Facilities at many stations were damaged during riots and repair work is still under assessment.
