Heavy Snow Hits Parts of Germany

A clear up operation continued in southern Germany on Friday after heavy snow caused fatal avalanches and major disruption this week.

Footage from the Alpine towns of Jachenau and Berchtesgaden showed authorities clearing roads and people shoveling snow from the roofs of houses after the snow subsided.

Still, airlines cancelled around 120 flights at Frankfurt Airport and 90 at Munich Airport on Friday because of concerns about snow, German news agency DPA reported. (AP)
