Harriet Harman: 'I'll bring robustness'

MP Harriet Harman says she put her name forward to succeed John Bercow as she believes she would bring a 'modern' touch and 'robustness'.

The Labour MP said the 'really difficult and turbulent' political climate makes this opportunity very exciting.

Ms Harman said she is also looking forward to potentially being the 'second' female speaker in the house and believes her appointment would set a 'modern' example both in the UK and worldwide.
