On Thursday, the Gulf Coast of Texas is preparing for tropical storm Harvey to make landfall by Friday, expected to bring strong winds, heavy flooding and torrential rains. The National Weather Service has forecast winds up to 75 miles per hour and as much as 15 inches of rain. In a statement early on Thursday, the weather service said, "Now is the time to check your emergency plan and take necessary actions to secure your home or business. Deliberate efforts should be under way to protect life and property."
