Members of the Greek parliament visited newly-elected President Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou to formally introduce her in Athens on Wednesday. Footage shows parliament speaker Konstantinos Tasoulas and other members of the legislature greeting Sakellaropoulou.

She became the first woman to be elected to the largely ceremonial post in Greece after a vote in parliament earlier on Wednesday with 261 ballots in her favour.

Sakellaropoulou, a 61-years-old senior judge with expertise in environmental and constitutional law, will take over from Prokopis Pavlopoulos whose five-year term ends in March.
