A gathering of around 300 people in Agiou Ioannou Square Athens suburb of Agia Paraskevi at 11:30 pm local time on Tuesday night ended up in clashes with police.

The police officers arrived at the scene, as people didn't follow a ban on mass gathering amid the coronavirus pandemic.

A group of people can be seen throwing projectiles before the square erupted and more objects were thrown while shouting ensued.

There had been a similar gathering on Monday night in the same square which had led to dozens of neighbours complaining.

According to local media, despite the fracas, no arrests were made at the square, which is reportedly known locally as a hotspot for drug trafficking.
