Around 150 anti-NATO activists marched through the streets of Athens on Saturday, as the military alliance celebrates its 70th anniversary this week.
Protesters marched towards the US Embassy, holding banners and chanting slogans.
"We are fighting in order for our country to become independent from the imperialists who have subjugated it. We marched to the US Embassy in order to oppose NATO, the Americans and the European Union", said Spyros Papakonstantinou, a member of the leftist organisation 'People's Resistance.'
NATO's foreign ministers gathered in Washington, DC, on Thursday, to mark the alliance's anniversary and discuss security issues such as terrorism, the burden-sharing of finances and the organisation's relations with Russia.
