Gizmodo reports the United States incarcerates more of its own citizens than any country in the world.
In fact, a disturbing new study from Cornell University reveals 45% of all Americans have a family member who's been incarcerated.
Among African Americans, this figure was considerably higher and closer to 63%.
For Hispanics it was 48%, and for whites it was 42%.
Around 60% of individuals who didn’t compete high school had an immediate family member incarcerated, regardless of ethnicity.
