Romanian voters had to leave a polling station in Ulm through the windows because of crowds which formed an hours-long queue, as shown in footage from the southern German city on Sunday.

Two thousand Romanian nationals who were eligible to take part in European parliament elections had to wait in line for hours at the polling station in order to cast their vote.

Footage shows voters climbing out of windows of the polling station after casting their vote.

Polling stations for EU elections were due to remain opened until 21:00 local time across Germany.
