National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD) politician Stefan Jagsch who was elected the leader of the town council of Waldsiedlung, near Frankfurt am Main, commented on the calls for his removal.
He said that the "national pressure" after his election has "nothing to do with true democracy" and that politicians calling for the election to be revoked are "acting against the constitution."
"For me it is important to make politics that is close to citizens. If a resident has a problem I want to help and carry the issue to the local council or the administration directly," he stressed.
Jagsch was unanimously voted to lead the town council because no one else wanted the position after his FDP predecessor resigned.
