German Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomed a group of 24 female students at the Chancellery in Berlin on Wednesday, ahead of Girls' Day in Germany.
Students attended a technology course alongside Merkel, who later encouraged the young girls to choose professions in mathematics, informatics, natural sciences and technology (MINT).
"I wish that all school students chose their studies and professions regardless of gender cliches. A male kindergarten teacher should be regarded and accepted as something natural as much as a female software programmer or engineer," said Merkel addressing the students.
Girls' Day, a German special day for teenage girls, has been celebrated since 2001. It is set to be celebrated on March 28, this year.
