German Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomed the President of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou to Schloss Meseberg in Brandenburg on Wednesday, where the pair spoke about migration.

Merkel recognised the cooperation between two countries in handling the illegal migrants.

"But there is a saying in Germany 'actions speak louder than words.' We must complement focusing on the people and what happens there," she added.

Issoufou pointed out that: "The restoration of the state in Libya will be of great importance in the fight against illegal migration, which disturbs the Europeans a lot."
