Blockchain service company Pundi X unveiled their first blockchain phone the Blok on Blok or 'BOB' at the 59th annual Consumer Electronics Fair 2019 (IFA) in Berlin on Friday.
"Everything that you do on Blockchain mode is designed to be secure, and open-ended encrypted as well. So, you as a user know you are in control of your data," said Director of Marketing for Pundi X Soohan Han, when describing the phone's Blockchain mode.
The phone also allows users to make encrypted voice calls without a phone number or carrier network by using the crypto-currency system and typing in the name of another BOB phone.
The new device is slated to be released between the end of the year and early 2020 with a retail price of €542 ($599).
The 'BOB' is by no means the world's first blockchain smartphone, a title that is claimed by both Israeli based manufacturer Sirin Labs and their 'Finney' phone, and Taiwanese tech giant HTC with their Exodus 1 device.
