Francis Scott Key Monument in Baltimore Vandalized

Late Tuesday night, a statue of Francis Scott Key, the writer of the Star Spangled Banner, was vandalized overnight in downtown Baltimore. According to Baltimore police, who have no suspects as of now, someone painted “Racist Anthem” on the side of the Bolton Hill monument with red and black paint. Key is considered to be a prominent figure in Baltimore's history as he penned the words to the anthem while being held prisoner on a British warship near the area during the War of 1812.
