A large explosion rocked central Paris on Saturday morning, reportedly leaving several people injured.

Initial reports say the blast was triggered by a gas leak, and went off in a bakery on the Rue de Trevise in the 9th Arrondissement.

Firefighters were scrambled to the scene to tackle the blaze and assist the injured, while police have cordoned off the area.

The blast took place amid heavy security in Paris, as the French capital braces for a new round of Yellow Vest protests.
