French environmental activists held stolen portraits of President Emmanuel Macron at a demonstration near the Eiffel Tower in Paris on Sunday to call on the government to take stronger action in facing climate change.
Activists have reportedly stolen more than 130 portraits of Macron from town halls across the country.
Activists held the portraits upside down to symbolise what they denounce as Macron's "doublespeak" over the climate.
Spokesperson of the climate group Nonviolent Action (ANV - COP21), Pauline Boyer, said the protest denounced "the doublespeak of a president who presents himself as a climate champion while he is not enforcing measures that are at the height of the climate challenge, right here in his country where the Paris agreement was signed."
