The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Friday approved by acclamation the appointment of former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet as the next UN human rights chief. Bachelet will replace Jordanian diplomat Zeid Ra‘ad al-Hussein on a 4-year term from Sept. 1, 2018 to Aug. 31, 2022.
