According to authorities Wednesday, a former student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida opened fire in the school, causing “numerous fatalities” and wounding at least 14 before he was arrested by police. Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said in a statement that the 18-year-old suspected gunman surrendered to police quietly. According to gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety, the shooting is the 18th in a U.S. school so far this year. A student at the high school tells CNN that the establishment recently held a meeting to discuss what to do in case of a gun attack.
