Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with his Finnish counterpart Timo Soini at Villa Haikko in Porvoo, near Helsinki, on Thursday.

Ahead of the meeting, Lavrov stated he hopes to "maintain the dynamics of the development of our relations, the dynamic which was set by our presidents in Arkhangelsk."

The Russian diplomat continued, noting that "our dialogue always contains issues of international politics, including issues related to security in Euro-Atlantic region."

The two men are also expected to discuss a range of bilateral issues, including cooperation in the Arctic region, the situation in Ukraine, Syria and the Korean peninsula, and security in the Baltic Sea Region.

SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "There is no doubt that we are open to exchanging views over all the issues that arouse the interest of the international community nowadays, including the Syrian crisis as well as problems of the whole Middle East and North Africa region, situation in Ukraine with necessity of Minsk agreement implementation, Korean peninsula problem and others."
