Demonstrations in Hong Kong are now at day 100. They began in June in response to a bill that would have allowed people to be sent to mainland China for trial. The bill has now been withdrawn, but the protests have widened with key demands including an inquiry into police violence, an amnesty for the nearly 1,400 people arrested, and universal suffrage.

Meanwhile, high profile events including a tennis competition and a musical have been cancelled.
