A military funeral was held for former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo, on Wednesday, attended by current President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi along with senior state chiefs, members of Mubarak's family and Arab delegations, amid tight security measures.

Footage showed soldiers holding up wreaths while marching in front of a horse-drawn carriage which carried Mubarak's coffin.

The funeral ceremony began after the noon prayer at the Field Marshal Tantawi mosque, east of Cairo, before the funeral procession brought Mubarak's coffin to his family's grave in Heliopolis.

Some mourners were seen during the ceremony holding up banners reading "Mubarak is wronged; Mubarak is an honest fighter," and "Farewell, [people's] beloved [president]." The government has declared three days of national mourning.

Mubarak was ousted during the 2011 revolution, after ruling the country for three decades. Accused of corruption and complicity in the killing of protesters during demonstrations against his rule, he was acquitted in March 2017.
