President Donald Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner was greeted by Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi in Cairo on Thursday, as he arrived to discuss US plan for Israeli-Palestinian peace.
Kushner and el-Sisi were seen sitting, surrounded by officials, as the parties discussed what media reports were the ways to bring stability to the Middle East.
The economic plan envisages $50 billion (€45 billion) investment into the Palestinian economy and lists 179 possible infrastructure projects, including a highway between the West Bank and Gaza.
However, the proposal has been met with hostility by Palestinians frustrated by the discounting the possibility of returning to their former homes.
