Dozens of towns across Australia are facing dire water shortages. it's referred to as "day zero" and it's been exacerbated by bushfires.

The recent rain has been nowhere near enough to alleviate the extreme scarcity of water. There are currently five communities whose supply has run out so they are relying on bore water or getting their water trucked in.

22 communities have less than 3 months of water left, and 14 could run out in the next six months.
