A total of 76 countries have promised to provide $30bn to help rebuild Iraq, following the defeat of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) in the war-torn nation.

The pledges were made at a major summit in Kuwait.

However, much of the cash will come in the form of loans, which will need to be paid back.

But the figure falls far short of what Iraq's government says it needs.

Al Jazeera's Sami Zeidan reports from Kuwait City.
