Once you get them going, wheelchairs can really fly.
But if they’re tricked out, they can float!
Everyone had a beach day in the northern Moroccan city of Tangier, thanks to specially designed wheelchairs and other gear to help disabled visitors take a swim.
Reuters reports the equipment and volunteers are all part of an initiative to make disabled folks feel more comfortable at the beach and assist them as they take a swim; allowing some to take a dip for the first time!
As many as 580 disabled swimmers took to the beach this summer.
The ramp in and out of the water made it easy.
The chairs float once inside the water.
Volunteers are close to each swimmer to make sure they stay safe.
Disabled swimmers don’t pay anything for the assistance and services offered.
The charity started in 2015 and the initiative runs during the summer season.
