According to a report by Reuters, on Wednesday, Nebraskans struggled to clear debris left behind by deadly floods that caused an estimated 1 billion dollars in damage, while emergency officials warily monitored the Missouri and Mississippi rivers as the disaster threatened to spread. The floods were reportedly the result of a late winter storm last week, followed by warming spring weather that melted snow, inundating a large swath of Midwestern farm states Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa along the Missouri River. Reuters reports that states of emergency have been declared in all or parts of the three states.
