Cyril Ramaphosa was sworn in on Saturday as president of South Africa and spoke to a packed crowd, just days after being elected to the role.

Ramaphosa has pledged to reform various struggling state-owned companies and revive the economy, but opposition by party rivals have resulted in difficulties to enact several changes.

He told the crowd at his inauguration that he was aware of the challenges facing the country, but believed South Africans were "hoping for a better tomorrow."
