Foreign ministers and high-level officials from the left-wing Bolivarian Alliance for the People of Our America (ALBA) regional bloc gathered in Havana on Tuesday to reject US interference in Venezuela's internal affairs and threats of military intervention against that South American nation.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza urged Washington to cease meddling on his country's internal affairs and through diplomacy reach agreements to overcome the differences between the two countries.
"We don't want a war in Venezuela, we want peace. Hopefully from the ALBA group we can communicate to the US government that we want dialogue, we want diplomacy, we want understanding even with all the differences", Arreaza stated.
ALBA promotes closer integration between Latin American countries and the Caribbean. It was launched by former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in 2004 and is currently made up of ten member states.
