The President of Venezuela's Constituent National Assembly (ANC) Diosdado Cabello said the Lima Group "won't do anything to help solve the crisis in Venezuela" and demonstrated "immense ineptitude," during a press conference in Havana on Friday.
"We believe the Lima Group won't do anything to help solve the crisis in Venezuela, they would put all their efforts to see Maduro go, that is the only task they want to fulfil. They have demonstrated an immense ineptitude they haven't been able to achieve so," Cabello said speaking from Havana Airport after meeting with Cuban Communist Party chief Raul Castro.
Canada's Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said on Friday that Cuba could play a role in Venezuela's "return to democracy."
Cabello dismissed Freeland's remarks, commenting that "Canada will do what the US says, it's a shame that such a big and beautiful country can't take its own decisions regarding its position about Venezuela. They believe our country is their backyard and they're wrong."
"The United States is now understanding that it was wrong in choosing its leadership in Venezuela," Cabello added.
