There is an old saying: Politics makes strange bedfellows.

On Wednesday, GOP Sen. Ted Cruz asked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to work with him.

Cruz wants to make birth control available over-the-counter.

Cruz approached Ocasio-Cortez via Twitter.

"A simple, clean bill making birth control available over the counter. Interested?"

Ocasio-Cortez made her support for the move known last week.

Some doctors say women should seek medical advice before taking the medication.

Republicans and Democrats have been divided on the issue for the last several years.

Reproductive rights groups have argued that making birth control over-the-counter would mean it's no longer free under the ACA.
