In Federal Parliament women make up less than 20 per cent of Liberal Party MPs compared to more than 40 per cent for Labor.
Analysis by The Drum shows Australia is not alone — in the UK, for example, the figures are very similar.
It's for this reason, a new force is trying to increase the role of women in conservative politics around the world.
