China's transport authorities have beefed up scrutiny and disinfection at expressways toll gates, airports and train stations to prevent and control the spread of the pneumonia caused by a novel coronavirus, amid a peak in return trips after the Spring Festival holiday season.

Railway stations across the country started to meet a peak in return trips from Saturday after the planned week-long Lunar New Year holiday season that began on Jan. 24 was extended to Feb. 2 as a measure to contain the novel coronavirus outbreak.
