Wuhan residents were seen visiting a food market in the city's Shuita Food District on Sunday night, signalling a gradual return to normalcy one month after the coronavirus lockdown was lifted.

"After the May Day vacation, there was not a massive outbreak, so people are more relaxed. I am gratified that now the turnover is back to 50 percent of what it was before the coronavirus outbreak," said restaurant owner Ye Lei.

Wuhan's city lockdown due to COVID-19 was lifted on April 8.

Hubei Province, where Wuhan is located, has not reported new cases of the coronavirus for 29 consecutive days now.
