According to a report by Reuters, on Saturday, China looked to put a gentler PR spin on its massive plan to recreate the old Silk Road, claiming it must do more to explain the program and boost sustainability. Reuters reports that the Belt and Road scheme seeks to build a modern version of the Silk Road to link China with Asia, Europe and beyond through large-scale infrastructure projects. On Friday, Xi reportedly told foreign leaders that the initiative must be green and sustainable, adding that the plan would deliver “high-quality” growth for all. Xi did not reportedly give details of any new funding for the initiative, however he did announce deals worth over 64 billion dollars signed during the meeting.
