Police used blue-dye water cannon and reportedly fired tear gas as hundreds protesting against femicide attempted to disrupt the World Economic Forum in Cape Town on Wednesday.

The protesters took to the streets demanding the government to take actions after the reported recent increase in femicide and gender based violence.

According to reports, eight people were arrested.
