The Canadian ethics committee held an emergency meeting on Aug. 21 to decide whether or not to block an opposition request for the ethics commissioner to testify on his SNC-Lavalin report.

Liberals on the House of Commons ethics committee blocked a push by the opposition members to get the ethics commissioner to testify about his scathing report on the SNC-Lavalin scandal.

That report found Prime Minister Justin Trudeau broke federal ethics rules by repeatedly interfering in the criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin.
