On Monday, Canada and Mexico pushed back against Donald Trump’s suggestion that steel and aluminum tariffs could be waived if they signed a new and“fair” NAFTA deal. Both countries have threatened retaliation unless they are exempted from Trump's planned tariffs, which have in turn rattled financial markets. According to figures, Canada and Mexico send more than 75 percent of their goods exports to the United States. Later on Monday, negotiators from all three countries will meet in Mexico City to wrap up the latest round of NAFTA talks, which are aimed at modernizing the 1994 Agreement.
