Canada is launching a $5,000 tax credit for zero-emission vehicles on May 1. According to Business Insider, Tesla vehicles will be ineligible for the credit because they're too expensive. The base model of a new car must sell for less than $45,000 Canadian dollars to qualify. Tesla's cheapest car, the Model 3, starts at $53,700 in Canada. The Canadian government believes that by 2040 all vehicles on Canadian roads can be zero-emission.
