China has flatly rejected criticism that it is mass detaining Muslim minorities in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, insisting it has set up vocational education centers to counter radicalization and prevent extremism. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng, head of the delegation speaking before the UN's top human rights body in Geneva, accused some countries of using the situation in Xinjiang to undermine Chinese sovereignty.
