British opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn said on Friday (April 5) that the Labour party's position remained that there has to be a customs union for Brexit Britain to ensure a good relationship with Europe and avoid unregulated trade.

The opposition leader was visiting Newport after Labour held onto its Newport West seat in South Wales following a by-election on Friday.

British Prime Minister Theresa May wrote to Brussels on Friday asking for a delay of Brexit until up to June 30, while saying she aims to get Britain out of the EU earlier to avoid it participating in European elections.
