Thousands of supporters of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro took to the streets of Sao Paulo on Sunday, to demonstrate their support for him amidst falling approval ratings, allegations of family corruption and a stalling legislative agenda.
Footage shows demonstrators, dressed in green and yellow, waving flags and holding signs declaring their support for the president.
"I'm here to defend the right wing movement, a movement that guarantees the president the right to stay in his position without sabotage from the STF (Supreme Federal Court) and Congress," said Erika, one of the demonstrators.
Similar demonstrations took place across the country with many Bolsonaro supporters attacking Brazil's Supreme Court and parliament, which they believe are hindering the president's agenda. The president's approval ratings have also been negatively impacted by a scandal involving alleged corruption by his eldest son, Flavio Bolsonaro, who is also a senator representing Rio de Janeiro on behalf of Bolsonaro's right-wing Social Liberal Party.
