Downing Street has condemned a move to refer Boris Johnson to the police watchdog over his alleged links with US tech entrepreneur Jennifer Arcuri as 'politically motivated'. The Independent Office of Police Conduct will now decide whether to launch a criminal investigation into the prime minister for misconduct in public office. And Mr Johnson could face a no confidence vote in parliament early next week - if the Scottish National Party get their way. (
