A Bengal tiger cub named 'Covid' has become the newest attraction at the Bio Zoo in Cordoba, Veracruz, as footage filmed on Tuesday shows.
Covid was born in captivity, weighing 2,350 grams at birth, within a program that is dedicated to helping animals that have been mistreated in circuses or private residences of wealthy people.
According to representatives of the zoo, they named it Covid "because a virus came to teach the planet in a quick way that we can change" and they consider that the small feline "has been the hope that makes us change the planet for the better.”
In addition to Covid, the zoo has eight tigers, four jaguars, five cougars, two lions and a bear, along with other specimens.
According to sources from the Government of Mexico, 29 people have died from COVID-19 and the number of positive cases amounts 1,215 in the country.
